Virginia Ann Petty (1947 – 2014)

GHENT—Virginia Ann Petty, 67, of Ancram passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Whittier Nursing Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born June 10, 1947 in Sharon, CT, the daughter of Delos and Marguerite (Lynch) Rifenburgh, Sr.

Throughout her life, she worked as a bank teller, laundress and in a doctor’s office.

She was incredibly talented and enjoyed crocheting, but her greatest gift was her grandchildren.

On August 12, 1967 in Stanfordville, she married Curtis D. Petty. He survives her at home.

In addition to her loving husband, survivors include: a daughter, Lisa Lynch and her husband Keith; two grandchildren, Hailey and Devon; four sisters, Margaret (Archie) Wildman, Evelyn (Roger) Sonnati, Rosemary (William) Lattimore, Doris (Charlie) Ostrander; a brother, Delos (Martha) Rifenburgh, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A funeral service was held Monday, August 25 at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains, with Deacon Jackie Jefferson officiating.

Burial followed in Stanford Cemetery.

Timothy J. Lydon, Sr. (1939 – 2014)

ELIZAVILLE—Timothy J. Lydon, Sr., 74, of Elizaville passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at his home.

Born October 4, 1939, in Elizaville, he was the son of the late Edward and Charlotte (VanDyke) Lydon.

For many years, Mr. Lydon worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters. He drove for many local area shipping companies.

He was a longtime member of the Elizaville Fire Company and of the Harris Smith Post 524 American Legion in Tivoli. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by: his wife, Susan of Elizaville; his children, Jodine Lydon of Elizaville, Tim Lydon, Jr., of Elizaville and Eric Lydon of Highland; his loving grandchildren, Cory and Kyle Schermerhorn, Zachary, Tyler, Jacob and Logan Lydon; his siblings, Charlene Goodrich of Hudson, Susan Moul of Red Hook, Edward Lydon, Jr., of Elizaville, Randolph Lydon of Barrytown and David Lydon of Florida; several nieces, nephews, close friends and extended family.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Cox and Carol Brightly.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. Fr. Patrick Buckley will conduct services at 8 p.m. Interment will be private.

Elizabeth Ella Hoover (1933 – 2014)

HUDSON—Elizabeth Ella Hoover passed away August 18, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 16, 1933 in Hudson, the daughter of the late Edward and Ella Garrison.

She is survived by: her daughters, Judy (Cameron) Fielder and Eleanor “Blondie” Steinke; her grandchildren, Joseph John Murell, Karen Harrington, Mark Gulden Stern, Jamie Klucserits, Amber Brown and Brianna Brown; her sister, Doris Kisselback of North Carolina; brother, Peter Garrison of Hudson and her 21 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Hoover was predeceased by her brother, Edward Garrison and her three sisters, Josephine Moore, Eleanor Simmons and Hilda Rock.

Services were private and under the supervision of the M. Grimaldi Funeral Home, Chatham.

Doris E. Bathrick (1938 – 2014)

ALBANY—Doris E. Bathrick 76 of Germantown died Saturday August 23, 2014 at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Born February 17, 1938 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Elizabeth (Tracy) Newlands.

Mrs. Bathrick was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed bird watching, reading and puzzles. She also enjoyed camping, the beach and Lebanon Valley Speedway with her family.

Survivors include: her husband, John M. Bathrick; four sons, Steven (Liz) Bathrick of Germantown, Frank (Caroline) Cipollino of Philmont, David (Betsy) Bathrick of Livingston, John R. Bathrick of Elizaville; two daughters, Debra (Joe) Finch of Florida, Lynne (Jim) Palmieri of Germantown; two brothers, Robert Newlands of California, and Richard Newlands of South Carolina; a sister, Ann Camier of Long Island; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a grandchild, Griffin Bathrick.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 29 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Reformed Church Cemetery of Germantown.
