Gibson, Eldridge agree to debate in race for Congress

GHENT–The campaigns of Republican Chris Gibson and Democrat Sean Eldridge agreed last week on a schedule of four debates between the two candidates seeking the seat in the House of Representatives for the 19th District.

The district covers all or parts of 11 counties, including all of Columbia County.

Mr. Gibson is the incumbent and is running for a third term in the house. He lives in Kinderhook.

Mr. Eldridge has not previously held political office. He lives in Ulster County.

The election is November 4.

The debate schedule is:

  • October 3, Joint Editorial Board Meeting with Poughkeepsie Journal at the newspaper
  • October 6, Ulster Chamber of Commerce Debate at Lake Katrine Middle School, Town of Ulster
  • October 16, WMHT at the station’s studio in Troy
  • October 22, Time Warner Cable News at TWC Studios, Albany.
