State judge slams brakes on Wilzig motorcycle track in Taghkanic
TAGHKANIC--In a decision that minced no words state Supreme Court Justice Patrick J. McGrath has issued a permanent injunction forbidding not only Alan Wilzig and his wife from using their nearly complete, multi-million dollar motorcycle track, but also bars use of the track by any “agent, guest or invitee” of the Wilzigs.
The January 6 decision also singles out the Town Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Board and employees, nullifying a series of recent decisions to approve the track and prohibiting town officials from issuing approvals for the track in the future.

Congressman makes good on pledge to visit every town he represents
ANCRAMDALE--In a mad dash to make good on his pledge to visit all 137 municipalities in the 20th Congressional District he serves, Congressman Scott Murphy's last stop in Columbia County January 6 was the Ancramdale Presbyterian Church Hall, where he arrived in the bitter cold for a Congress-On-Your-Corner meet-and-greet at 7:10 p.m.
The congressman apologized for his slight tardiness to the 25 constituents waiting there for him, saying he had taken a few moments out from his tight schedule to call home, hoping to talk with each of his kids before they hit the sack, but found his 4-year-old was already asleep.

TAGHKANIC--It's finally over, as Democrats claimed victory in all four disputed town races left undecided since the November 3 general election.
At the continuation Wednesday, January 13, in Hudson of a series of court hearings that started last December before acting state Supreme Court Judge Jonathan Nichols, enough of the remaining ballots were counted to assure that Democrats Larry Kadish and Joyce Thompson were elected to the Town Board. Jeffrey Tallackson will serve as a town justice, and Tom Youhas was elected highway superintendent. Both are Democrats.
