GREENPORT--Raymond E. Berry, 77, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at home.
Born in Hudson on September 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Edmund and Minnie (Phillips) Berry.
Mr. Berry worked for L & B Products as a shipping supervisor and also at Foster's Refrigeration.
He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. MacCaffrey.
Mr. Berry was an avid bowler, hunter, and fisherman, and enjoyed camping.
He was a life member of the American Legion and a 25-year member and past president of the Apple Valley Square Dancers.
Mr. Berry was devoted to his family and was a "doting grandfather" who cherished his granddaughters.
Surviving are his wife, Donaldine (Simmons) Berry of Greenport; four children, Donald E. (Carolyn) Berry of Wexford, Penn., Renee M. (Leonard) Ashdown of Stuyvesant Falls, Kyle A. (Clifford) Beede of Stuyvesant, and Andrea M. (Jeffrey) Seymour of Stockport; five granddaughters, Adrienne and Alysse Berry of Pennsylvania, Haley and Hannah Ashdown of Stuyvesant Falls, and Katelyn Seymour of Stockport; his brother, Robert Berry of Taghkanic, and several nieces and nephews.
His sisters, Judith Putnam and Myrtle Berry, died previously.
Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Stuyvesant Falls.
Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.

HUDSON--Edward T. Thompson Jr. of Hudson died Thursday March 18, at Columbia Memorial Hospital. He was 86.
Born in Hudson November 12, 1923 he was the son of the late Edward T. Sr. and Alice (Church) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a 1942 graduate of Hudson High School and served in the U.S. Army 27th Division Field Artillery in the South Pacific. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant on January 6, 1946. After he went home he married his high school sweetheart Frances V. (Fabiano) on January 14th 1946.
He was a linotype operator for Chatham Printing, Daily Mail in Catskill, Poughkeepsie Journal and Optical Publishing of Pittsfield for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post# 184 Hudson, National Rifle Association, past member of the Hudson Boat Club for 12 years and charter member of the Hudson Power Boat Assn. Mr. Thompson was also the 4th Ward Alderman in the City of Hudson for 15 years and belonged to the I.T.U. International Typographical Union.
He is survived by his wife Frances (Fabiano) Thompson, as well as three nephews. In addition to his parents,one sister, Ingrid Thompson Wheeler, died previously.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be Saturday morning 9 a.m. at Cedar Park Cemetery Hudson with Pastor Ken Coddington of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating.
Arrangements are with McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home Hudson.

CLAVERACK--Shirley E. Kipp, 50, a lifelong resident of the Churchtown-Hollowville area, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at her home.
Born March 10, 1960 in Hudson, she was the beloved daughter of Homer Wentzel of Craryville and the late Augusta (Tomlin) Wentzel.
She was a graduate of Taconic Hills Central School.
Henry P. Koskowski, Sr., Purple Heart RecipientMrs. Kipp was a homemaker and devoted to her family. She had a heart of gold and will be missed by all of her family and friends.
She was a member of Columbia County ABATE and an ardent animal lover.
Mrs. Kipp was the beloved mother of Katelynn Kipp and Shannan Kipp; wife of David Kipp; devoted daughter of Homer Wentzel; loving sister of Katherine "Katie" Hoefer and Julie Tompkins, and special aunt to many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, two sisters, Mildred Bink and Margaret Propst, died previously.
Memorial services will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson..

HUDSON--Henry P. Koskowski, Sr., 88, of Hudson, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Firemen's Home.
Born January 24, 1922 in Stottville, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Koskowski.
Mr. Koskowski was employed as an electrician at the Universal Atlas Cement Plant and was a member of the Silver Medal Club.
He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, earning a Purple Heart, the Distinguished Unit Badge, the American Defense Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.
Mr. Koskowski was a member of the Hudson VFW, the Hudson Elks Club and a life member of C.H. Evans Fire Company
Surviving are two sons, Henry (Paul) Koskowski, Jr. of Hudson and Bruce Koskowski of Saugerties; his daughter, Kathleen Ann Blake of Ohio; two brothers, Raymond Koskowski and Michael Koskowski, both of Hudson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visiting hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Stuyvesant Falls.
The family would to thank the Firemen's Home for the excellent care they gave Henry, especially Carolyn and Wendy.

HUDSON--Christine R. Pierro, 90, of Hudson, an area resident since 1949, died Wednesday March 17 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born in Southington, Conn. on November 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and MaryAnn (Perillo) Aldi. Mrs. Pierro was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and St. Mary’s Church, Hudson. She was previously employed with General Motors Parts Plant in Connecticut, and later with Riverside Mfg., Nancy Ann Dress Co. and also Universal Match Co. in Hudson.
She is survived by one son, Carmine A. (and Leitha) Pierro of Hudson; one daughter-in-law, MaryEllen Pierro of Hudson; one sister, Julia (and Neil) Palma of Danbury, Conn.; three grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher and Nicolas; and great-grandson, Matthew Louis. Her husband, Carmine Anthony Pierro Sr., died in 1998 and one son, Victor F. Pierro in 1985. Her brothers, Jimmy, Joseph, Albert, Tony, Louie and Jan, and sisters Philomena and Jennie died previously.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday at 11a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 429 E. Allen Street, Hudson with Fr. Winston Bath officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation, 71 Prospect Avenue, Hudson, NY 12534 or to St. Mary's Church P.O. Box 323, Hudson, NY 12534.
Arrangements are with McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home 700 Town Hall Drive Hudson.
