Driver says sleeping caused Stockport accident

STOCKPORT—One driver was hurt and the other charged following a two-vehicle crash on Route 9 at the Philo Road intersection, March 30 at 5:13 p.m.
     Nancy Martin, 54, of Valatie, was driving a 2002 Dodge pickup truck north on Route 9 when she saw a 2001 Honda cross the centerline into her lane. Ms. Martin attempted to avoid the Honda, driven by David Keil, 38, of Hudson, but was unsuccessful.
     Mr. Keil told Sergeant Michael Merante, who investigated the crash, that he fell asleep behind the wheel.
     Ms. Martin was taken by private vehicle to the Albany Medical Center for evaluation.
     Sergeant Merante charged Mr. Keil with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, operating without a driver’s license and speed not reasonable and prudent.
     Mr. Keil will answer the charges in Stockport Court at a later date.
     William Flubacher, 21, of Rensselaer, was charged with disorderly conduct on an arrest warrant by Deputy Brian Molinski, March 25 at 8:30 p.m.
     The warrant, issued by Stockport Justice Harold Horner was executed by Rensselaer City Police, who turned Mr. Flubacher over to Deputy Molinski. Arraigned in Stockport Court, Mr. Flubacher pleaded guilty to the charge.

Philmont

∙Jeremy Shea, 22, of Philmont, was charged with second degree assault and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon by Deputy Peter Grzeskow March 29 at 11:40 a.m.
     Mr. Shea allegedly struck a 24-year-old man with a bottle causing injury.
     Arraigned in Philmont Court before Justice Rick Tracey, Mr. Shea was sent to the county jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bail bond.
     He was directed to return to village court at a later date.

Ancram

∙James DiSalvo, 49, of Ancram, was charged on an arrest warrant for a probation violation by Deputy Kris Bauhoff March 23 at 9:15 p.m.
     Mr. DiSavlo was originally convicted December 17, 2008 in Ancram Court on charges of second degree aggravated harassment and resisting arrest.
     Placed on probation at the time, Mr. DiSalvo allegedly violated the terms and conditions of his probation.
     Arraigned in Ancram Court before Justice Robert Wilcox, Mr. DiSalvo was sent to the county jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond.
     He was ordered to return to the town court at a later date.

Greenport

∙Scott Sheak, 35, of Greenport, was charged with second degree harassment by Deputy Kris Bauhoff, March 22 at 8:15 p.m.
     Mr. Sheak is accused of pushing a 63-year-old man, causing him to fall off a porch.
     Mr. Sheak was released with an appearance ticket directing him to appear in Greenport Court at a later date.

Alcohol

     The following face alcohol-related charges:
∙Renee L. Hicks, 29, of Stottville was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and having an inadequate exhaust by Deputies Michael Stelling and Louis Bray during a traffic stop on Atlantic Avenue, Stottville, March 28 at 4:47 a.m.
Ms. Hicks was released with traffic tickets and directed to appear in Stockport Court April 13.
