About trout

April 3, 2009 by DIANE VALDEN

Josh White, 22, of Copake, caught this 23-inch, 5-pound brown trout on April 1, the opening day of the season. Using a single worm on a 6-pound line, Mr. White, who works at the Church Street Deli, landed the beauty from Buckwheat Bridge over the Roeliff Jansen Kill on the Livingston/Clermont border shortly after 10 a.m. “I was only fishing for about 20 minutes when I hooked into what I thought was a log. It seemed like a long fight but was probably only about 3 or 4 minutes. I don’t think I've ever been so excited in my life. It is the biggest trout I have ever caught and is the envy of all my friends,” Mr. White told The Columbia Paper. Photo by Michele Lawley.
