Gimme shelter

Photo contributed Gimme shelter Columbia County Emergency Medical Services now has a new portable shelter for use at large-scale emergency incidents and public gatherings. The Zumro inflatable shelter provides 284 square feet of space for emergency service crews to work in all weather conditions. The interior is lighted and climate controlled by a 70,000 BTU heater and a 12,000 BTU air conditioner. The shelter cost $22,000 and was purchased with funds obtained through the state Homeland Security Grant Program. Checking out the new shelter in the photo are (l-r) Chatham Rescue Squad Administrative Supervisor Sara Johnson, EMS Coordinator P.J. Keeler, Claverack Fire Chief Brennan Keeler, Columbia County Emergency Management Grant Administrator Rob Lopez and Zumro Dealer Arthur Braun.
