Hudson man lands in jail after knife incident

HUDSON–Gregory T. Meyers, 22, of Hudson was charged with third degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana by Hudson Police Officer James Nero, August 11 at 2:50 p.m.

Mr. Meyers allegedly possessed a 12-inch chef’s knife during a fight on South Front Street. When police arrived to investigate a report about a man with a knife, they saw Mr. Meyers throw the knife.

Arraigned in Hudson City Court, Mr. Meyers was jailed in lieu of $3,500 cash bail or $7,000 bail bond.

*William A. Bailey, 32, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault and first degree burglary by Officer Tracey Newkirk, August 12 at 11:56 p.m.

Mr. Bailey allegedly entered a woman’s apartment without permission and choked her, causing bruising and swelling to her neck. When police went to the Allen Street apartment to investigate a yelling complaint, Mr. Bailey allegedly fled out the back door but was apprehended.

An investigation is continuing and more charges are possible, police say.

*Robin M. Fulton, 48, of Hudson was charged with third degree criminal trespass by Officer James Nero, August 12 at 10:03 a.m.

Ms. Fulton alleged trespassed at Bliss Towers after being advised she was not allowed there. She subsequently turned herself in on an arrest warrant for the charge at the Hudson Police station.

*City police charged four people in connection with a large fight on State Street, July 30.

Shanieka M-C Beauford, 19, of Hudson was charged with second degree harassment because she allegedly punched a man during the fight.

James J. Palen, Jr, 38, of Hudson was charged with second degree harassment because he allegedly punched a woman during the fight.

Raeshard D. Williams, 18, of Hudson was charged with disorderly conduct because he allegedly tried to fight with others and had to be physically restrained by police during their investigation into the fight.

Sahtise S. Green, 23, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault because he allegedly punched and bit a man during the fight. The man sought medical attention at Columbia Memorial Hospital for his injuries.

Officer Tracey Newkirk and Detective John Funk, Jr. issued appearance tickets to all those charged.

*Anthony T. Blue, 20, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault by Officer Mishanda Franklin, August 1 at 8:04 a.m. He turned himself in at the police station.

Mr. Blue allegedly punched a woman in the face injuring her right eye.

He was arraigned before Acting City Court Judge William Cranna and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.

*Clarence W. Risch, Jr, 39, of Greenport, and Lisa M. Madison, 39, of Hudson were each charged with third degree criminal trespass by Officer Shane Bower, August 7 at 1:56 p.m.

A code enforcement officer spotted the pair inside the old CC Club at North Third and Columbia streets. The building was boarded up to keep people out.

*Sarah R. Miller, 33, of Hudson was charged with making a false written statement to police by Detective John Funk, Jr. August 7 at 3:20 p.m.

Ms. Miller allegedly gave a signed, sworn statement to police July 29 in which she said she did not know who stole a television. Police say she was present at the time and did know who took it.

*Erica N. Avery, 28, of Hudson was charged on two warrants for second degree forgery by Officer Mishanda Franklin, July 29 at 1:15 p.m. The warrants were issued by Rotterdam Town Police. 

Drugs/alcohol

The following faces drug- or alcohol-related charges:

*Paul F. Occhipinti, 59, of Claverack was charged with driving while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol content greater than .08%, aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right by Officer Jason Finn during a traffic stop at State and Seventh streets, Hudson, July 29 at 12:26 a.m.
