ANCRAM—The town celebrates itself for three days in August—14, 15 and 16.
Festivities begin at the town swimming pool at Blass Memorial Field Friday with an Ancram Youth Commission-sponsored pool party, barbecue and Dive-In movie. The cost is $5 per person and includes burgers, hot dogs and the featured movie—Transformers—on the big screen by the pool.
On Saturday on the grounds of the Town Hall, craft and business vendors will display their wares from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jewelry, pottery, crafts, commemorative t-shirts and caps, milkshakes, cookbooks and more will be on sale.

The youth commission sponsors a bounce house and craft corner for kids. The Columbia County Sheriffs K-9 Unit will demonstrate the talents of their hard-working dogs. Mobile Command-1 Unit will be on hand to fingerprint children and enter them into the New York State Safe Child Data Base. ID cards will be provided.
Pony rides will be offered and horse-drawn hay rides with Pat Simone. There will be animal displays and an exhibit of Ancram history inside the Town Hall.
Residents can test their aim at a dunking booth at which town officials are the targets.
The Ancram Fire Company will sell hamburgers and hot dogs all day.
Music by the Local Bluegrass Jam Band starts at 4 p.m. and an Ancram-Fire-Company-award-
After supper, dance under the tent or the stars to music provided by DJ John Delamater from 7 to 11 p.m.
On Sunday, outside the Town Hall, trees will be dedicated in memory of late longtime Town Supervisor Gerald Simons and Town Councilman Andrew Dietter at 1 p.m.
The dedication will be followed by an all-faith worship service and hymn sing led by Pastor Leif Erickson of the Ancramdale Presbyterian Church and Pastor Mark Frickey and Assistant Minister Joyce Fiore of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ancram.
After the service, all are invited to a covered-dish potluck picnic (participants are asked to bring one dish per family that will feed at least four people).
The day ends with an ice cream social on the Town.
