CHATHAM–The Chatham Agricultural Partnership, a group appointed by the Town Board to provide oversight for agricultural activity in the town, will hold a public workshop on the draft Chatham Agricultural Protection Plan at the Town Hall Thursday, September 10, at 7 p.m.
Funding for this plan was provided through a state Department of Agriculture and Markets grant under the Municipal Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan Development Program. The meeting is open to the public.
This draft plan builds on and is consistent with Chatham’s new Comprehensive Plan adopted last month. The recommendations in the plan provide more detail regarding specific strategies for implementing the goals in the Comprehensive Plan.
A public hearing on the agricultural plan will be held at the September 17 Town Board meeting, also at Town Hall on Route 295.
If the Town Board votes to adopt the plan, the document will then be reviewed by the Columbia County Farmland Protection Board and the state Department of Agriculture and Markets.
The draft plan can be accessed at www.chathamkeepfarming.org.
