Alleged beating ends with city man facing assault charge

HUDSON–Charles L. Craig Jr., 22, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child by Officer Daniel Scali, October 13 at 9:56 p.m.

Mr. Craig was allegedly involved in a fight with a 28-year-old woman during which he allegedly grabbed her by the throat, choked her, slapped and then punched her in the face–all in the presence of two youngsters, police say.

Mr. Craig was held for arraignment.

*Harry M. Wheeler, 41, of Hudson was charged with second degree criminal contempt by Officer Nicolas Pierro, October 14 at 10:26 p.m.

Mr. Wheeler allegedly violated a Family Court Order of Protection.

He was issued an appearance ticket.

*Michael L. D’Alessio, 45, of Philmont was charged with second degree criminal contempt by Officer Jason Finn, October 17 at 6:45 p.m.

Mr. D’Alessio was charged on Philmont Village Court arrest warrant for allegedly disobeying a court order. He was held for arraignment. 


The following face drug-related charges:

*Steven J. Baxter, 24, of Lithonia, Ga., was charged with resisting arrest, fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and a violation of Hudson City Code for illegally discarding garbage by Officer Jason Finn, October 15 at 4:51 p.m.

Police spotted Mr. Baxter “rolling a marijuana blunt in the park opposite the High Rise” on the 100 block of Columbia Street. When police told him he was under arrest, Mr. Baxter allegedly ran away from them and ditched the blunt.

He was arraigned and jailed in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bail bond.

*Christopher D. Welch, 17, of Hudson was charged with two counts of second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia by Officer Christopher Filli, October 15 at 4:55 p.m.

Police say they saw Christopher with a black scale and numerous small plastic bags for the purpose of packaging and selling narcotic drugs or stimulants on the corner of First and Columbia streets.

He was arraigned and held in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bail bond.
