PHILMONT–Mildred E. Hermans, 90, of Copake, died Wednesday November 4, 2009 at the Pine Haven Home.
She was born on October 16, 1919 in Hudson, a daughter of the late Ralph and Alice (Waltermire) Studley.
Mrs. Hermans was a graduate of the New York State Teachers College in Albany and had been employed for many years as a supervisor for adult services by the Columbia County Department of Social Services.
She was a longtime member of the Copake United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, where she held various offices. She was also a member of the Cobbletones singing group.
On December 24, 1943 in Claverack, she married H. Grant Hermans who died last year. A daughter, Muriel Moschkau, and two sisters, Velma Forgham and Evelyn Lyman also died previously.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Guntert of Copake and sons Grant Hermans of Copake Falls and Charles Hermans of Millerton. She also leaves her grandchildren, Sandra Kellstrom, Deborah Anderton, Scott Moschkau, Richard Moschkau, Matthew Moschkau and Jasmin Smith, along with eight great grandchildren. Additionally, her siblings Nancy Berninger of Ghent, Edna Coon of Rochester, Barbara Meltz of Stottville, Carol Spath of Walkill and Albert Studley of New Jersey survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday November 7, at 11 a.m. from the Copake United Methodist Church.
Friends are invited and may call Friday November 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake.
Burial will follow the services in the Copake Cemetery.
