Richard Morris, 68, contractor was former chief of P’mont Fire Dept.

HUDSON--Richard C. Morris of Philmont and longtime area resident died suddenly Friday November 20, 2009 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. He was 68. 
Born in Ghent, April 18, 1941, he was the son of the late John and Evelyn (Quinion) Morris. 
Mr. Morris served in the U.S. Army from 1957-61, stationed in Germany. He was the owner/operator or Richard C. Morris Contractor and Builder in Philmont. He was a life member and former Chief of the Philmont Fire Dept., the Masonic Lodge and was an avid outdoor enthusiast and hunter. Surviving are his loving wife Dagmar E.(Helmbrecht) Morris at home; one son, Paul and (Colleen) Morris of Clifton Park, Saratoga County; one daughter, Diana Morris and her boyfriend John Wood both of Saugerties, Ulster County; brother Alfred and (Helen) Morris of Kinderhook; one sister, Dorothy and (Steven) Pfeiffer of Craryville; and grandsons Eric, C.J. and Daniel Morris, as well as many nieces, nephews and Cousins. 
There are no calling hours. 
 
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 24, at 11 a.m. at the Valenti and Richards Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Coddington will officiate. Burial at the family plot will follow in the Ghent Union Cemetery.
