Marjorie McClurg, 85, owned beauty shop in Hillsdale

PHILMONT–Marjorie H. McClurg, 85, of Hillsdale, died Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Pine Haven Home.

She was born April 12, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Frederick and Harriet (Needham) Webber.

Mrs. McClurg was a longtime local resident and was employed as a hairdresser and owner of the Taconic Beauty Shop in Hillsdale.

She was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness where she served as president of the Episcopal Church Women’s Group.

On April 27, 1947 she married her beloved husband, Victor McClurg, who died July 19, 2003.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Thomas and Kathy McClurg of Hillsdale and her daughter and son in law, Margaret and Drake Miller of Stephentown. She also leaves her grandchildren, Lyndsey, Jamison and Katelyn Miller, along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited and may call on Sunday December 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22 in Copake.

A Memorial Service will be offered on Monday, December 28, at 11 a.m. from the Church of St. John in the Wilderness, Route 344 in Copake Falls. The Rev. John Thompson, pastor, will officiate.

Private burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
