LIVINGSTON–Donald P. Lynk 83, died Saturday, December 12, as a result of a fire at his home. Born June 5, 1926 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Elias and Lena (Coons) Lynk.
Mr. Lynk served with the U.S. Army Infantry during WWII and as a reservist during the Korean War.
A well-known self employed contractor and builder in Livingston, he was a life-long member of the Linlithgo Reformed Church of Livingston, past commander and life member of the Southern Columbia Memorial VFW Post 6398 in Germantown, past master of the Hudson Widow’s Son Lodge F&AM of Livingston, the Cyprus Shrine of Albany, and the Kalicoontie Rod and Gun Club of Elizaville and a past president of the Columbia County Sportsmens’ Federation
He was one of the founders of the former Southern Columbia Ambulance Squad in Livingston and a member of the New York State Conservation Council.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Bishop) Lynk, whom he married August 14, 1982; one daughter, Donna Lynk and her husband James Campion of Livingston; three sons and their wives, Scott and Dee Lynk, Greg and Maureen, all of New Jersey, Gary and Frances of Florida; step-daughter Mary Jones and her husband Jeff of Nassau and step-son Thomas Meltz and his wife Lillian of Hillsdale; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, a nephew and cousins. His brother, Calvin, died in 2006.
Calling hours will be 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home of Germantown. Members of the Hudson Widow’s Son Lodge will conduct services at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and members of the VFW Post 6398 at 7 p.m.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Linlithgo Reformed Church of Livingston. Burial with full military honors presented by the VFW Post 6398 will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Manorton.
