ZEPHYR HILLS, Fla.–Floyd L. Hinkel, 84, of Stuyvesant, died Saturday December 12, 2009, at his residence.
Born in Stuyvesant March 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Reuben and Mamie E. (Young) Hinkel.
Mr. Hinkel was a WWII veteran with the U.S..Coast Guard and a self-employed general contractor. He previously worked for Fort Orange Paper Co. in Castleton as a foreman for 25 years.
He was a life member of both the Stuyvesant Falls VFW Post # 9593 and the Stuyvesant Fire Co. He was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stuyvesant.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anita C. (Sweet) Hinkel of Stuyvesant; five children, Ronald Hinkel of Niverville, Jeanne Hinkel of Stuyvesant, Diana Sharac (Bill) of Stuyvesant, Susan Leader of Niverville and Debbie Anziano of Stuyvesant. Twelve grandchildren, Jeff and Karen Kirkpatrick, Kristin end Libby Hinkel, Danielle Martin, Jaime, Jesse, Justin and Jenna Leader, Tyler Haberkern and Todd and Chad Anziano, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, also survive. A grandson, Jason Leader, died previously.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Route 9, Valatie with Vicar Dan Cohn officiating. Burial will be in Kinderhook Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
