Jane Derrick, 77, long-time Ancram Post Office clerk

ANCRAMDALE–Jane A. Derrick, 77, of Ancram, died Wednesday,December 16, 2009 at the home of her son.

She was born on May 10, 1932 in Hudson, the daughter of Ralph W. and Louise Rocker.

A lifelong resident of Ancram, Mrs. Derrick had been employed for many years with the United States Postal Service as a clerk within the Ancram Post Office.

She was a longtime member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ancram and a lifetime member of the Ancram Fire Company Auxillary.

After her retirement Mrs. Derrick enjoyed traveling with her friends and was able to visit Alaska, Hawaii, New Orleans and many other locations.

On March 28, 1964 in Ancram she married John J. Derrick. He died January 18, 2007.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Rocker of Auburn and Laurie Rocker of Scipio Center, along with Jon and Becky Rocker of Ancramdale. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Derrick Rocker, Elizabeth Rocker, Joseph Rocker, Sara Rocker, Alecia Rocker. Darren Mosher and Brandon Mosher.

Friends are invited and may call Sunday, December 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22, Copake.

Her funeral service will be held Monday, December 21, at 11 a.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ancram with the Rev. Mark Frickey, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Ancram.
