Max Bervy, 76, owned the Chatham John Deere franchise for 40 years

Nazarenko Bervy.

Mr. Bervy graduated from Chatham High School in 1950, later from Kansas State University and the University of New Hampshire. After school he served in the U.S. Army. He owned the John Deere franchise on Route 203 for 40 years and had started Edgewood Acres along with his brother, Serge Bervy Sr., in 1971.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing, traveling, bowling and flying his airplane. Mr. Bervy was an honorary member of the Austerlitz Club and the NRA; he was also a member of AOPA, the Kinderhook Sportsman Club and was a past president and Melvin Jones recipient and member for over 40 years of the Chatham Lions Club.

Mr. Bervy is survived by his wife, Nancy (Walker) Bervy; daughters Jill E. Bervy, Jacqueline (Robert) Young, Jennifer Goldberg; son Max A. Bervy Jr. (Amie); sister Eugenia (Bervy) Walter; brothers Alexis E. Bervy Jr. and Serge A. (Jane) Bervy Sr.; grandchildren Max A. Bervy III, Katie Mae Bervy, Joshua D. Goldberg andBrandon C. Goldberg; brother-in-law; John Bottiroli (Elaine Walker) and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Mr. Bervy’s name may be made to the Chatham or Valatie rescue squad or to a charity of your choice.
