Van Pinto, 42, former Chatham High track, football coach

ALBANY–Van Pinto of Colonie died Monday, January 11, 2010, at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was 42. Born in Hudson on January 25, 1967 he was the son of Vincent F. and Orrine L. (Friss) Pinto of Taghkanic.

Mr. Pinto was a graduate of Taconic Hills High School and worked as a contractor. He was both a track and football coach for Chatham High School, and was also the head coach for the former Hudson Vikings Football Team. Mr. Pinto was also a Sunday school teacher for many years with the former Church of the Holy Cross in West Taghkanic.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his son, Matthew Vincent Pinto of Valatie; wife Lori A. (Marczewski) Pinto, at home; step-children Ryan W. Houseknecht and Nicole M. Houseknecht, both of Colonie; one brother, Matthew L. Pinto of Rotterdam; his former wife, Gina Howard of Valatie; and one aunt, Lucille Meyer of Kansas City, Mo.

Calling hours will be Friday, January 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Hudson. Funeral services will be Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with Deacon Charles O’Neill officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery Hudson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
