Armand Conte, 90, WWII vet was life member of Livingston Pumper Co.

LIVINGSTON–Armand P. Conte, 90, of Livingston passed away on January 15, 2010 at Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born March 17,1919 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Dominic and Angelina (Casaregola) Conte.

Mr. Conte had been employed a short time for the Atlas Cement Plant in Hudson and prior to his retirement in 2000 he worked with his father-in-law and brothers-in-law on the Klein’s Kill Fruit Farm in Livingston for many years.

Mr. Conte served with the U.S. Army’s 188th Parachute Infantry during WWII. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct medal, and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with star.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Church of Hudson and the Church of the Nativity of Linlithgo, a life member and past officer of the Livingston Pumper Co. #1, a member of the Hudson Elks and Jennings Willet American Legion Post of Germantown.

Mr. Conte was the father of Carol and (Tom) Fucito, Armand and (Phyllis) Conte, Fred and (Mary) Conte all of Livingston, brother of: Thomas Conte of Hudson, grandfather of Theresa Rossi, Tom Fucito and Chris, Randy and Derrick Conte, He was the great- grandfather of Angelica, Alexis and Rosie Fucito, Andrew and Scottie Rossi and Cooper, Collin, Eli, and Ryan Conte.

His wife of 63 years Jessie (Bartolotta) Conte, his sisters, Philomena Warfield, Dolores Parlman and Jean Atwell, and his brothers Fred, Louie, Anthony, Dominic and Francis Conte, died previously.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday January 18,  at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home of Germantown.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the funeral home and 10:30 a.m. from the Church of the Resurrection Holy Trinity Parish of Germantown, where the Rev. Theodore Gerken will celebrate a Mass of the Christian Burial.

Burial will follow in the Nativity Church Cemetery of Linlithgo with full military honors provided by the Jennings Willet American Legion Post.

Members of the Livingston Fire Company will conduct services at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home and members of the Jennings Willet American Legion Post at 7:30 p.m.
