William McNeill, 90, life member of the Mellenville Fire Dept.

PHILMONT–William E. McNeill of Mellenville died Saturday, February 6, at Pine Haven Nursing Home. He was 90.

Born in Harlemville on August 6, 1919, he was the son of the late William and Bernice (Decker) McNeil.

Mr. McNeill was employed by Columbia Corporation in Chatham for 46 years where he was tour boss for over 20 years, he was an Elder in the Philmont Reformed Church, board member of the Mellenville Union Cemetery, and life member of the Mellenville Fire Dept.

His wife, Nellie (Shufelt) McNeill, died previously. He is survived by two sons, William “Dan” and (Linda) McNeill of Hillsdale and Paul K. and (Diane) McNeill of Mellenville; one grandchild, Joshua McNeill; and several nieces and nephews, as well as his dear friend Leona Shufelt. A sister, Rosella Shufelt, also died previously.

 

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, February 10, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Hudson. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 with Pastor Daniel Herrick of Philmont Reformed Church officiating. Burial will be in the Mellenville Union Cemetery.
