DADE CITY, Fla.–Rebecca A. Harder, 78, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Valatie, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010.
Born March 4, 1931 in Browns Summit, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Annie ( Apple ) Osborne and the wife of the late Martin I. Harder.
Before her retirement she was employed by Clendenin’s, Harder’s Grocery Store and 17 years for Barnwell Nursing Home in their medical records department, all located in Valatie. In the late 1950s she was active in the PTA, was a 4-H leader in the early 1960s and Life Master’s in bridge, as well as an avid bowler.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Harder of Valatie and Beverly Brule of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; one sister, Jessie Pegram of Brown’s Summit; two grandchildren, Lori Burke of East Greenbush and Brenda Dobert of Shreeveport, La.; five great grandchildren, Kyle Harder, Evana Burke, Brooke and Kayle Jones, lsabella Welch; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, one son, Daniel Harder, and her siblings Eva, C.L. Jr., Otis and Alfred Osborne, Edna Swink, Florine Wrenn and Mildred Brignul died previously.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery , Valatie. Contributions in Mrs. Hardern’s name may be made to Lee’s Chapel UMC, 2303 Lee’s Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27405 or HPH Hospice, 37445 Clinton Avenue, Dade City, FL 33525.
