Bette “PePe” Makas, 57, long-time Italian restaurant employee

HUDSON–Bette Jean “PePe” Makas  passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born May 1, 1952 in Hudson, she is the beloved daughter of Alfred and Jean Lasher.

Husband, Stanley Glenn “Buddy” Makas died previously: She is survived by her longtime companion, Stan Tomasitz.

Mrs. Makas attended the Hudson City School District and was employed by Moxie’s Italian Restaurant for more than 20 years.

Surviving are three children, Steven Makas and his wife, MaryAnn, Renee Makas and her longtime partner, Christine Bandos, and Michele Makas; one granddaughter, Erin Jean Makas; two sisters, Linda Fenoff (Raymond) and Patricia Lasher Johnson, and her longtime companion, Mark Dauemheimer; her niece, Christine Fenoff Degraff (Chris); a nephew, James Fenoff (Doreen); several great nieces and nephews, and two dear friends, Virginia Marchionne and Deborah Keil.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Semlear, the Walmart employees of Hudson for their efforts, the Greenport Rescue Squad, and Columbia Memorial Hospital’s ER and ICU staff, especially Dawn and Marlene, for their compassion and care.

Visiting hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 6 p.m. Burial will be private.

After the service, the family will receive friends at the Makas home in Stuyvesant to celebrate her life.
