Viola Pitt, 87, enjoyed spending time with her family

PHILMONT–Viola J. Pitt, 87, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010 at home, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and friends.

Born July 8, 1922 in Schoharie, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Rosa Chase.

Mrs. Pitt was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Pitt is survived by five children, Rosalee (Merton) Tripp of Greenville, Arlene Buckton of Philmont, Audrey Wester of Ghent, Clarence (Barbara) Terrell of Greenville and Roger (Sara) Pitt of Livingston; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Hilda, Loretta, Dora Mae and Ella; her brother, Leslie; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Ward Pitt; two brothers, Clifford and Bobby; and four sisters, Marion, Dorothy, Katherine, and Sara died previously.

Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, followed by services at 6 p.m.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to thank Unlimited Care, Community Hospice of Columbia Greene, and Barbara Clapper, Teddy Joe Clapper and Sandy Green for the excellent care their mother received.
