Grace Darling, 92, her life revolved around her family

HUDSON–Grace A. Darling, 92, of Chatham, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born January 26, 1918 in Patterson, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Sarah and William Kastner.

Mrs. Darling was a cook and nurses’ aide at the Payne Home in Chatham before retiring.

She enjoyed gardening and bird watching, but her life revolved around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Darling was the beloved grandmother of Joy Ogden of Schenectady, Denise McGlauflin- Stutz of Clermont, Fla., Mary Duby-Parslow of South Cairo, Michael McGlauflin of Niverville, and Dennis McGlauflin, Jr. of East Greenbush. Also surviving are 14 great-grandchildren, and her niece, Selma Kastner of Catskill.

Her husband, Walter Darling; her daughter, Deborah Darling Hildwin; her sister, Gertrude Cole; and five brothers, John, Charles, Thomas, Augustus and Sidney Kastner, died previously.

Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Spring burial will be in the Chatham Rural Cemetery.
