ALBANY–Helen J. Slater, 51, of Hillsdale, died suddenly on Wednesday February 10, 2010 at St. Peter’s Hospital.

She was born in Sharon, Conn. on March 27, 1958 the daughter of Leo Martel of Ohio and the late Marie E. Martel.

A homemaker, Ms. Slater was a graduate of Webutuck Central School.

Surviving besides her father is her fiancé, Arthur Curtis of Hillsdale; four children, Jeremy Slater of Canton, David Curtis of Hillsdale, Katie Curtis of Westerlo and Jenna Curtis of Hillsdale. She also leaves her siblings, Leo Martel of Poughkeepsie, Judith Drury of Millerton, John Martel of Connecticut, Suzanna Martel of Amenia and Frank Martel of Millerton, along with several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, Route 22 in Copake.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m.

Burial will be in the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery.
