Eleanor Card, 91, Philmont church’s oldest member

HUDSON–Eleanor M. Card, of Ghent, died Friday February 19, 2010 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. She was 91.

Born November 25, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mae (Rockefeller) Tanner. She was a graduate of Philmont High School and was a clerical worker for Charter Supply Corp. in Philmont and retired after many years of work. Mrs. Card was a 79-year member, the oldest member, of the Philmont United Methodist Church. She was also a charter member of the Philmont Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Card Jr. and companion Marge Tice and Donald and Palma Card, one sister, Dorothy Hoose; granddaughter Judith (Jake) Tice; two great-grandchildren, Jackie and John “Bud” Tice.

Her husband, Charles Card, died in 2007; one sister, Beulah Wallace, also died previously.

Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Hudson. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Ken Coddington officiating.

Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Mellenville Union Cemetery in Mellenville.

Memorial contributions are requested to the Philmont United Methodist Church.
