STOTTVILLE—Paul A. Ressler, “Poly,” a lifelong Columbia County resident, resided in Stottville with his wife of  61 years, Dorothea; they raised four boys: Paul (Karen) of Danbury, Conn.;  Glenn of Valatie;  Richard (Karen) of Kinderhook; and Kevin of Stottville; as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a sister, Helen Kittell of Claverack. His brothers John and Julius, both of Hudson, died previously.

Mr. Ressler was a WWII veteran and served his country proudly in the USCG, New Bern, N.C. He was employed by the Canada Dry Corporation, where he worked for over four decades, after which he had a second career with the New York State Department of Corrections (Hudson facility), where he received numerous awards for his mentoring.

Mr. Ressler loved gatherings of all types; as the family patriarch he held all holidays at his home in Stottville or at his beloved lake house on the Great Sacanadaga Lake.  His hobbies included bowling, fishing, baseball, crabbing, and he was a diehard New York Mets fan who was blessed to travel to Shea and the new Citi Field on many occasions with his sons.

The thing he enjoyed the most was the friendship and extended family at Stottville Fire House.  Per his wishes, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Stottville Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 264, Stottville, NY.

After years of suffering with Parkinson’s disease, Mr. Ressler has chosen to donate his body to the Albany Medical College of Research, so at this time there will be no calling hours. A Christian Mass and burial will be announced at a later date.

We would like to invite friends to join the family at the Stottville Volunteer Fire Co.,  Stottville, on  Saturday, February 27, beginning at 1, for a casual remembrance and memorial gathering.
