HUDSON–Robert Francis Kelly, 84, of Valatie, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Columbia Memorial Hospital .
Born in Valatie June 6, 1925, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Ethel (Harder) Kelly Sr.
Mr. Kelly was a Medic with the U.S. Army during WWII and was employed by the state Dept. of Taxation and Finance in Albany. He was a member of the Valatie Santa Claus Club since 1946 and its last original member.
He was a 64-year member of the John W. McConnell American Legion Post # 47 in Valatie, the Bourbon and Chowder Society, a member of the Winding Brook Country Club for over 40 years and a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy (Keller) Kelly of Valatie; a son, Robert E. Kelly (Stacey) of Valatie; a sister, Mary Lou Willett of Alexandria, La.; a brother, John Warner Kelly of Springfield, Ill.; three grandchildren, Gabriel, Liam and Brady Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
His brothers Edward J. Kelly Jr. and Truscott M. Kelly and a nephew, Michael Kelly, died previously.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1, at 11 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Church, Valatie with the service conducted by Rev. John Molyn. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Valatie.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Route 9, Valatie.
