William Stack, 83, former Chatham Schools employee

VALATIE–William A. Stack, 83, formerly of the Chatham area, died Thursday at Barnwell Nursing and Rehab Center. Mr. Stack was born August 5,1926 in Wallkill, the son of the late Thomas and Julia Etta (Jamin) Stack. He was brought up and attended school in Middletown. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 -1945.

Mr. Stack was employed with the Chatham Central School District for many years, retiring in 1987. He would also be remembered for his “Stack’s Snacks” wagon at local events and fairs as well as his woodcraft.

Mr. Stack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean (Hinchey) Stack; daughters Kathleen and husband Ronnie Porter and Susan and husband Richard Faulkner, both of Chatham.  He is survived also by grandchildren Alan Faulkner and Crystal Pauli and four great-grandchildren.

A calling hour  will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon, and a funeral service will follow at noon from the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham. Burial will be in the Old Chatham Union Cemetery.
