HUDSON–Edward T. Thompson Jr. of Hudson died Thursday March 18, at Columbia Memorial Hospital. He was 86.
Born in Hudson November 12, 1923 he was the son of the late Edward T. Sr. and Alice (Church) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a 1942 graduate of Hudson High School and served in the U.S. Army 27th Division Field Artillery in the South Pacific. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant on January 6, 1946. After he went home he married his high school sweetheart Frances V. (Fabiano) on January 14th 1946.
He was a linotype operator for Chatham Printing, Daily Mail in Catskill, Poughkeepsie Journal and Optical Publishing of Pittsfield for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post# 184 Hudson, National Rifle Association, past member of the Hudson Boat Club for 12 years and charter member of the Hudson Power Boat Assn. Mr. Thompson was also the 4th Ward Alderman in the City of Hudson for 15 years and belonged to the I.T.U. International Typographical Union.
He is survived by his wife Frances (Fabiano) Thompson, as well as three nephews. In addition to his parents,one sister, Ingrid Thompson Wheeler, died previously.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be Saturday morning 9 a.m. at Cedar Park Cemetery Hudson with Pastor Ken Coddington of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating.
