Raymond Berry, 77, 25-year member of square dance club

GREENPORT–Raymond E. Berry, 77, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at home.

Born in Hudson on September 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Edmund and Minnie (Phillips) Berry.

Mr. Berry worked for L & B Products as a shipping supervisor and also at Foster’s Refrigeration.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. MacCaffrey.

Mr. Berry was an avid bowler, hunter, and fisherman, and enjoyed camping.

He was a life member of the American Legion and a 25-year member and past  president of the Apple Valley Square Dancers.

Mr. Berry was devoted to his family and was a “doting grandfather” who cherished his granddaughters.

Surviving are his wife, Donaldine (Simmons) Berry of Greenport; four children, Donald E. (Carolyn) Berry of Wexford, Penn., Renee M. (Leonard) Ashdown of  Stuyvesant Falls, Kyle A. (Clifford) Beede of Stuyvesant, and Andrea M. (Jeffrey) Seymour of Stockport; five granddaughters, Adrienne and Alysse Berry of Pennsylvania, Haley and Hannah Ashdown of Stuyvesant Falls, and Katelyn Seymour of Stockport; his brother, Robert Berry of Taghkanic, and several nieces and nephews.

His sisters, Judith Putnam and Myrtle Berry, died previously.

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.

Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Stuyvesant Falls.

Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.
