Raymond Wolfersteig, 79, 50-year employee of Hudson tire shop

HUDSON–Raymond S. Wolfersteig, 79, of Stottville, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital.


Born October 28, 1930 in Stockport, he was the son of the late Burr and Elsie (Lewis) Wolfersteig.


He worked for over 50 years at Smith’s Tire Shop in Hudson.


Mr. Wolfersteig served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war.


He was a life-long area resident.


Mr. Wolfersteig was the beloved father of Renee Gravin and Darlene (Raymond) Clark, all of Greenport; devoted grandfather of Jamie Clark of Greenport; and loving uncle of several nieces and nephews.


His wife, Laura (Sitzer) Wolfersteig; his step-mother, Hazel Wolfersteig; and his brother, William Wolfersteig, died previously.


Visiting hours are 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.


Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery.


Donations may be made in his memory to Columbia Memorial Hospital Foundation, Memorial 4, Hospice Unit, 71 Prospect Avenue, Hudson.
