Louise Cozzolino, 82, Chatham Fire Co. auxiliary 50-year member

VALATIE–Louise M. Cozzolino of Chatham passed away peacefully, April 12, 2010 at Barnwell Nursing Home. Born January 25, 1926 in Sheffield, Mass, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Jennie Maxwell Teator.

She married Fred Cozzolino on January 10, 1949 and enjoyed 53 wonderful years together raising their four children before his passing in July 2002. Mrs. Cozzolino was a past president and member of the Chatham Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years and a member of the Chatham-Ghent Seniors.

She loved her family and enjoyed being there for them always. Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with them and especially time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed time with her friends and looked forward to their lunches together. She was always considerate and giving to others and her door was always open.

She is survived by her children Terry Cozzolino, John (Beth) Cozzolino, Diane (Brian) Simmons and David Cozzolino; her grandchildren, Kelly VanAlstyne, Brian R. Simmons, Joseph and Thomas Cozzolino and Kevin and Brian Scheriff; her great grandchildren, Hunter, Amelia, Emily, Abigail, Tate and Landon; and her brothers, Leroy and Donald Teator.

Her sister, Elizabeth Rapp, died previously.

Family will receive friends Friday ,April 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl funeral home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday the 17th in Saint James Church at 11a.m. Burial will follow at Saint James Cemetery, Ghent.

 

Memorials in Mrs. Cozzolino’s name may be made to the Chatham Fire Company or to the Community Hospice of Columbia Greene.
