Bliss Towers incident results in assault, weapons charges

HUDSON–Mitchell Brandow, 49, of Hudson was charged with second degree assault, first degree menacing, third degree criminal possession of a weapon, second degree attempted assault and second degree harassment by Officer Rodney Waithe April 17 at 9:52 a.m.

Mr. Brandow allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old boy with a knife inflicting a cut to his arm, attempted to assault an 18-year-old male with a knife and threatened a 20-year-old woman in a hallway at Bliss Towers.

He was arraigned and jailed without bail.

*Tara C. Cobbins, 36, of Hudson was charged with second degree assault with a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child and third degree criminal possession of a weapon by Officer Brent Rowe April 16 at 11:05 a.m.

Ms. Cobbins allegedly attacked a woman using a sock filled with rocks while in the presence of a child April 10.

She was arraigned and held in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond.

*David N. DiBlasi, 40, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault (hate crime) by Officer Rodney A. Waithe, May 1 at 2:46 a.m.

Hudson Police say that Mr. DiBlasi punched a 29-year-old man due to his sexual orientation. The man suffered cuts and bruises to his face and sought medical treatment at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Mr. DiBlasi was arraigned and jailed in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond.

*David A. Higgs, Jr. 21, of Hudson was charged with second degree assault on an officer, and two counts of second degree attempted assault on an officer by Officer Brent Rowe May 8 at 4:05 p.m.

Mr. Higgs allegedly kicked a security officer in the chest causing him injury and allegedly attempted to hurt two medical staff members at Columbia Memorial Hospital, May 2.

He was arraigned and held in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bail bond.

*Nicholas W. Distano, 25, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault by Officer Nicholas Hodges May 4 at 9:35 p.m.

Mr. Distano allegedly punched a woman in the face. He was arraigned and released.

*Veana A. Shackelton, 42, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault by Officer Jeffrey Keyser, May 6 at 8:53 a.m.

Ms. Shackelton allegedly injured a 25-year-old woman during a fight.

*A 16-year-old Hudson boy, not identified by police, was charged with third degree attempted assault and second degree harassment by Officer David Miller May 3 at 1:20 p.m.

The boy allegedly fought with teachers at the Hudson High School. He was issued an appearance ticket.

*A 17-year-old Hudson girl, not identified by police, was charged with third degree attempted assault by Officer Mishanda Franklin May 6 at 2:04 p.m.

The girl allegedly punched a 17-year-old boy in the face and body several times at the Hudson High School. She was issued an appearance ticket.

*Alicia R. Sapcoe, 33, of Hudson was charged with giving a false written statement and third degree falsely reporting an incident by Officer Brent Rowe May 8 at 8:35 a.m.

Ms. Sapcoe allegedly gave a false statement and fabricated a report about an assault April 25, which was investigated by detectives. She was arraigned and released.

*A 15-year-old Hudson boy, not identified by police, was charged with fourth degree grand larceny by Officer Jeffrey Keyser, April 14 at 1:14 p.m.

The boy allegedly stole a debit card. He was issued an appearance ticket.

Drugs

The following face drug-related charges:

*Marquin M. McLean, 19, of Hudson was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia (scales and packaging), unlawful possession of marijuana, fourth degree criminal possession of marijuana and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell and having drugs weighing a half ounce or more) by Officer Kevin Sweet April 16 at 4:51 p.m.

Mr. McLean was pulled over for using a cell phone while driving on State Street and the officer subsequently found him to allegedly possess crack cocaine and marijuana. Mr. McLean was arraigned and jailed in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bail bond.

*Joel P. Dorval, 20, of Hudson was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell a dangerous narcotic drug), second degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (having four ounces or more of a dangerous drug) and not wearing a seatbelt by Officer Daniel Scali March 31 at 2:49 p.m.

Officers pulled Mr. Dorval over on South Front Street for not wearing his seatbelt and subsequently discovered marijuana and crack in the vehicle and seized more than four ounces of crack cocaine. He was arraigned and jailed without bail.
