SCHENECTADY–Edwin Clapp, lifelong Philmont resident and recently of Kingsway Nursing Center , died Saturday May 15. He was 91.
Born in Philmont on September 16, 1918 he was the son of the late William Arden and Beulah (Herrick) Clapp. Mr. Clapp graduated valedictorian from high school and later served during WWII with the U.S. Army Air Corps in North Africa through Italy.
He was an oil deliveryman for Pulver Gas and Oil in Hudson and after he retired was a house painter for many years.
He is survived by one sister, Georgiana Clapp of Schenectady, and niece Holly Douros of Framingham, Mass.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home ,700 Town Hall Drive, Hudson. Graveside prayers will follow at 2:15 at the Mellenville Union Cemetery with Pastor Ken Coddington officiating.
