Betty Mellan, 52, owned George’s Auto and Truck Repair

HILLSDALE–Betty J. Stalker Mellan, 52, died unexpectedly Sunday May 23, 2010 at her residence.

She was born on September 23, 1957 in Gt. Barrington, a daughter of Edith M. (Stalker) Dellea of Middlefield, Mass. and the late Frank Dellea.

A graduate of Roeliff Jansen Central School, Mrs. Mellan was the owner and operator of George’s Auto and Truck Repair in Hillsdale.

Besides her mother of Middlefield, survivors include her husband, Earl H. Mellan Sr. of Hillsdale; six sons, Earl H. Mellan Jr., Louis W. Mellan, Matthew K. Mellan, George R. Stalker Jr., Christopher P. Stalker and Justin Zigon, all of Hillsdale. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Louis Jr., Dean, Anthony, Dylan, Kelsey, Aaliyah, Jocelyn, Chase, Mason, Hannah and Nathanial. Additionally she is survived by six siblings, Alice Allgcier of Millerton, Susan A. Stalker of Hillsdale, Sandra L. Dellea of Middlefield, Mass., E. William Funk of Housatonic, Mass., Frank L. Dellea of North Carolina and James A. Dellea of Port Charlotte, Fla., along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, a husband, George R. Stalker Sr, died previously, Mr. Stalker in 2001.

Funeral services will be held Friday May 28, 2010 at 11 a.m.at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22 in Copake. The Rev. Juanita Middlebrook of the Hillsdale United Methodist Church will officiate.

Friends are invited and may call Thursday May 27, 2010 from 4 to 6 p.m.at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the North Hillsdale Cemetery.
