Roland E. Kreeber, 81, World War II vet, bus driver

HUDSON—Roland E. Kreeber, 81, of Hudson died Friday, July 2, 2010 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Born in Hudson on December 4, 1928 he was the son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Calkins) Kreeber.

Mr. Kreeber was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army European Theatre of operations. He was a bus driver for Hendrick Hudson Bus Lines in Hudson and also worked in maintenance at Hudson River Bank and Trust Company. He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson.
He is survived by his loving wife Philomena (Sandagato) Kreeber whom he married November 14, 1954; also two sisters-in-law, Fae Kreeber of Hudson and Lillian Kreeber of Valatie; several nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by two brothers, Clarence and Harold Kreeber.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 6 from 9 to 10:30am at McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home. 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson, with Fr. Winston Bath officiating. After the Mass, burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
