BLUFFTON, SC—Beatrice Grace Smedley Stichter also known as Bea and Mimi died July 6 in Bluffton, SC.
She was a longtime resident of Philmont and Hudson. She was married to the late Ed Stichter for 63 years—they had a profound love for each other.
Mrs. Stichter was active in the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and on a bowling league. She was an avid camper and a strong supporter and advocate for rescue dogs.
She was the mother of Barbara Little (John) of St. Johnsville; Marilyn Santiago (Eric Bali) of Bluffton SC; and Bea Michael (Bob) of Hudson. Her grandchildren are Andrea Cesternino, Susan Cohen, the late Johnny Little, Curt Warfield, Kris Warfield and Leann Michael. She has one surviving sister, Hannah Anderton, Reading, PA.
Mrs. Stichter was a woman of timeless beauty, grace and charm. She was loving, generous, selfless and always there for us. We were blessed to have her as our mother and grandmother. She is one of the last of the great generation. We will miss her greatly, be forever grateful for her care of us and she will forever live as a shining example of goodness and kindness in our hearts. She loved and was loved in return—a perfect, complete life.
Arrangements were with the McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Burial was in Mellenville Union Cemetery. Donations in Mrs. Stichter’s memory may be made to the Humane Society www.humanesociety.org
