HUDSON—Rita M. Finkle, 93, of Greenport passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born July 29, 1917 in Stottville, she was the daughter of the late Mervin and Grace Mae (Palmer) Ingles, and the widow of Richard S. Finkle.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Stockport; a former member of St. Barnabus Church in Stottville; and a member and officer of the Episcopal Church Women for many years. She was also a member and officer of the Stottville PTA; was active in Cub Scout Pack 110; and served as a Greenport Election District#1 election inspector for many years.
Mrs. Finkle enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, hiking, camping and gardening.
She was a direct descendent of a Civil War soldier.
Surviving are her son, Richard C. Finkle of Greenport; her half brother, Raymond J. Ingles of Swan Lake, Maine; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no calling hours and graveside services are private.
