Viola Savage, 93, secretary, church member

STUYVESANT—Viola C. Savage of Stuyvesant, formerly of 28 Oakwood Boulevard, Hudson, died Saturday October 23, in Stuyvesant. She was 93.

Born in Stuyvesant November 26, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Bloom) Phillips.

Mrs. Savage was a secretary for V & O Press in Hudson and previously worked for Sterling Winthrop and General Electric. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson as well as a eucharistic minister, member of the Catholic Daughters and also volunteered with the Columbia Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxillary.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Dolores Eisner, Ronald Rustick, Sandra Stetz, Patricia Wied, Samuel V. Greco Jr., as well as, many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward Savage in 1986; one brother, Raymond Phillips; and two sisters, Evelyn Greco and Frances Rustick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 27, 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson. Funeral arrangements are with the McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.
