ALBANY—Richard K (Rich) Jacker, 83, of Stonewood Drive, Niverville, died Saturday October 23, 2010, at the Samuel Stratton Veterans Administration Hospital.
Born in Heidelberg, Germany, October 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Erwing and Louise (Schnoerr) Kirshner.
Mr. Jacker was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a supervisor at the Fort Orange Paper Company in Castleton. He was an active member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Valatie and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and had a passion for camping and traveling in his RV.
He is survived by his wife, Elfriede (Heuser) Jacker; one son, Richard L. Jacker of Niverville; a daughter, Manette Jacket; a sister, Mary Heermance of East Greenbush; a grandson, Ricky Jacker; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 29 at 11 a.m. from the First Presbyterian Church in Valatie with the Rev. Kathi Jones officiating. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
