VALATIE—Ann (Roseann) Barilies, born October 10, 1928 in Hyattsville, MD, passed away at Barnwell Rehabilitation Center, October 25, 2010.
A woman of many accomplishments, Mrs. Barilics was the first woman bus driver for the Ichabod Crane School District; a bus driver instructor for the ICC School District for more than 20 years, and was chosen by Albany Medical Center to train and evaluate their shuttle bus drivers for certification. She was one of the first women to join the Valatie Rescue Squad and was a member of the Ladies Elks and Niverville Fire Department Auxiliary.
Mrs. Barilics is survived by her beloved husband, George A. Barilics. She was the loving mother of Joann T. Lindsey of St. Louis, MO, Stephen W. Barilics of San Bernardino, CA, Brenda Amsden of Wilmington, NC, Rosalyn Caparaso of Albany, Lorraine Hoagland, and son-in-law Kevin Hoagland of Niskayuna; grandmother of Amy Lindsey, Sabryna (Amsden) Kurtz, Nathan Barilics, JoAnna Crewell, Ryan
Barilics, George Michael Fawthrop and Devin Hoagland; and great-grandmother of one with another on the way.
A celebration of Mrs. Barilics life will be held Friday, October 29, 1 p.m. from St. John the Baptist Church, Route 9, Valatie.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Valatie Rescue Squad or to the charity of one’s choice.
