Vincent Sacoski, 84, Sheriff’s sergeant, WWII vet

HUDSON—Vincent R. “Uncle Rush” Sacoski, 84, of Taconic Shores, Copake, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Community Hospice in Columbia Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 20, 1926 in Bronxville, the son of Jacob and Mary (Brophy) Sacoski.

Mr. Sacoski was a sergeant with the Westchester County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 1984. Previously, he was employed by the Burrough’s Wellcome Pharmecutical Co. in Tuckahoe.

He was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Sacoski was predeceased by his wife Florence E. (Schoureck) Sacoski in 1995 and also a sister, Elizabeth M. Sacoski.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews, including his nephew and best friend Christopher Schoureck of Tuckahoe. He also leaves several great and great great nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held Thursday December 2, 2010 at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, Route 22, Copake . The Rev. George Brennan of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Copake Falls, will officiate.

Entombment will follow at the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.
