Roy Tayer, 53, winery worker; Yankees, Giants fan

PITTSFIELD—Roy Michael Tayer, 53 of Copake Falls, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Berkshire Medical Center.

He was born June 4, 1957 in Hudson, the son of the late Vernon C. and Betty M. (Burdick) Tayer.

A lifelong local resident, Mr. Tayer attended schools locally and was employed at the Cascade Mountain Winery in Amenia.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He enjoyed tending to his flower gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa M. (Conklin) Tayer of Copake Falls; a son Brian Tayer of Copake Falls and a daughter, Amanda Tayer of Pittsfield, Mass. He also leaves two sisters, Cynthia Denis of Hollowville and Sue Ellen Tayer of Schenectady, along with his mother-in-law, Hazel Conklin of Copake Falls.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11 at 11 a.m. from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22, Copake. The Rev. Dr. Robert Charnin of the West Copake Reformed Church will officiate.

Friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the West Copake Cemetery.
