John Werner III, 57, contractor, outdoorsman

ANCRAM—John Francis Werner III, 57, of Undermountain Road died Monday, December 13, 2010.

He was born October 14, 1953 in Queens, the son of John and Mary (Quinlivan) Werner of Brewster.

Mr. Werner was raised in Rosedale and moved to Brewster in 1969. He  married Nancy (Nardella) Werner October 1, 1977 in Danbury, Conn. Soon after, they relocated to Boston Corners in Ancram.

In 1978, Mr. Werner joined the New York State Police, with whom he was employed until 1984, when he started his own firm, John Werner Construction.

He was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman who enjoyed all types of hunting both locally and on trips out west with friends. Mr. Werner was a member of Undermountain Golf Course in Boston Corners and a member of the New York State Troopers PBA.

Besides his parents, he leaves his beloved wife Nancy and their three children, Jason Werner of Copake, Christopher Werner of Hudson, and Jennifer Werner of Malta. Additionally, he leaves three sisters, Maureen Patterson of Brewster, Beth Young of New Milford, CT and Patricia Sullivan of Poughquag; along with 12 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Werner was a husband, father, son and brother, who pursued his life with energy, tenacity and conviction. He will be remembered fondly Friday, December 17, 2010 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the parish of Our Lady of Hope, Route 22 in Copake Falls.

Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
