Steven Kulyniak, 58, track worker, liked jazz fests

HUDSON—Steven Kulyniak 58, of Hudson, died Thursday February 24, 2011 at Community Hospice in Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born in Hudson, February 28, 1952, he was the son of the late Simon Kulyniak and Maria (Nemann) Kulyniak of Hudson.

Mr. Kulyniak graduated from the State University at Plattsburgh with a degree in art.

He was a track worker for 37 years at Conrail and Metro-North in Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie. He enjoyed basketball, traveling and jazz festivals.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by: his brothers, Michael (Kathleen) Kulyniak of Greenport, Andrew (Pam) Kulyniak of Greenport and Nicholas (Marcia Schermerhorn) Kulyniak of Hudson; also one close nephew, Jacob Kulyniak.

Calling hours are Saturday, February 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services following at 1 p.m. at the McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Fr. John Jedrychowski will officiate.

Therese Sorokey, 90, homemaker, factory worker

PHILMONT—Therese Sorokey of Craryville died Wednesday, February 23 at Pine Haven Nursing Home. She was 90.

Born in Hirson, France, December 25, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Blanche Noe.

In 1942, she married Alfred “Frenchie” Sorokey, who died in 1998. She was a homemaker and was previously a factory worker in France and later in Hudson. She was also a member of the former Sacred Heart Church in Philmont.

She is survived by one son, Alan (Dawn) Sorokey of Craryville; one daughter, Lillian (Michael) Tomlin of Columbiaville; one brother and sister in France; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by several brothers and one sister.

Calling hours will be Sunday, February 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McDonald-Valenti-Richards Funeral Home., 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 28, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Howard Clark, 72, Army vet, truck driver

LIVINGSTON—Howard Clark, 72, of Livingston, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 at Livingston Hills Nursing Center.

Born April 13, 1938 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Franklyn and Pearl (Coons) Clark.

Mr. Clark was a truck driver with the Columbia County Highway Department for more than 25 years and also worked at the Atlas Cement Plant. He served in the US Army from 1956 until 1959 and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Clark was the beloved husband of Lynne (Yates) Clark of Livingston and devoted father of Denise Dumary of Cairo, Beth Miller of Hudson and Rowland Miller of Catskill. Also surviving are his brother, Frank Clark of Churchtown, his sister, Gladys Lajam of Schenectady, nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Clifford Clark, and two sisters, Rose Dingman and Lillian Tkacy.

Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m. Monday, February 28 at the Bates & Anderson—Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 2 p.m.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
