HUDSON–Steven J. Baxter, 26, of Hudson was charged on warrants for second degree attempted murder, second degree criminal possession of a weapon and failure to pay fines for operating an unregistered motorcycle, resisting arrest and burglary by City Police Detective John E. Funk, Jr., April 5 at 12:37 a.m.
Mr. Baxter was arrested on the warrants by Pennsylvania authorities and picked up by Hudson Police at 721 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
The most serious charges against Mr. Baxter stem from a shooting on the 100 block of Columbia Street May 29, 2010. Mr. Baxter allegedly discharged a loaded firearm at a man causing a bullet to strike him in the head near his left temple.
Hudson Police were assisted by Pennsylvania agencies and the Columbia County DA’s Office.
Mr. Baxter was arraigned before City Judge Richard Koweek and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000,000 cash bail or bond.
*Kevin Allen, 30, of Rutland, VT was charged with second degree assault, second degree burglary, petit larceny, first and second degree criminal contempt, endangering the welfare of child, second degree strangulation and resisting arrest by Officer Nicolas Pierro, May 18 at 4:50 p.m.
After finding Mr. Allen hiding in a closet, city police arrested him on a warrant for numerous charges related to a May 18 altercation during which he allegedly entered and remained unlawfully in a woman’s apartment at 15 North Front Street, violated a court order by having contact with her, assaulted her by punching her in the face, choked her and stole her keys.
He allegedly committed these acts in front of a one-year-old child.
He was arraigned before City Judge Richard Koweek and jailed in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond on the bulk to the charges and $300 cash bail or $600 bail bond on the resisting arrest charge.
Also charged in connection with the arrest of Mr. Allen were: Rahdai G. Roberts, 20, and James M. Mackey, 18, both of Hudson, and Jermaine D. Washington, 30, of Troy, all for resisting arrest by Officer Mishanda Franklin after the men allegedly intentionally prevented police officers from arresting Mr. Allen.
The three men were arraigned and released.
A week earlier, Mr. Allen was also charged with petit larceny, first degree criminal contempt and second degree harassment by Officer Pierro at 432 Warren Street, May 11 at 6:47 a.m.
Mr. Allen allegedly entered the home of a woman, whom he is supposed to stay away from according to a court order of protection.
While in her home, he allegedly dragged the woman across the floor causing scratches to her left leg and allegedly took her cell phone.
Arraigned before City Judge Mark Portin, Mr. Allen was sent to jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or bail bond.
*Anna E. Driver, 43, of Hudson was charged with second degree menacing (weapon), second degree unlawful imprisonment and third degree criminal possession weapon (previous conviction) by Police Officer Rodney A. Waithe, May23 at 1:59 p.m.
Hudson Police were called to investigate a dispute at 236 Robinson Street. When they got there, officers saw Ms. Driver holding a large kitchen knife in her hand. She complied with officers orders to drop the knife. Further investigation revealed that Ms. Driver allegedly held a 62-year-old man in a room while threatening him with the large kitchen knife and not allowing him to leave. She was held pending arraignment in City Court.
*William T. Fernandez, 41, of Hudson was charged with third degree criminal possession weapon (previous conviction), third degree attempted assault and criminal obstruction of breathing/blood circulation by Officer Jacob R. Hoffman, III, at 718 Columbia Street, May 12 at 10:14 p.m.
Mr. Fernandez allegedly choked a 22-year-old woman. After she reported the incident to police, Mr. Fernandez allegedly threw a brick at her, striking her in the back. The incident occurred near a residence on the 500 block of Columbia Street.
He was arraigned before Judge Koweek and sent to jail without bail.
*Scott J. Sawyer, 38, of Hudson was charged with third degree assault by Officer Nicholas T. Hodges, April 6 at 1:01 a.m.
Police went to investigate a disturbance in progress at 41 North Second Street. They found that Mr. Sawyer allegedly pushed a woman causing her to fall to the ground and sustain multiple injuries.
He was arraigned before Judge Mark Portin and jailed in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or bond.
