Lola Stoll, 93, loved to read and bowl

GHENT—Lola V. Stoll, 93, of Chatham passed away June 22, 2011 at the Whittier Nursing Home.

She was born February 28, 1918 in Yonkers, the daughter of the late Curtis and Louise Prack Courtney.

Mrs. Stoll attended Yonkers schools and graduated from Gorton High School. She was a member of the American Legion Post # 42, a life-member of the Ghent VFW Auxiliary and was a volunteer at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed her crafts and was a terrific homemaker enjoying cooking and baking. She also loved bowling.

She is survived by: two daughters, Lynda J. (Harry) McCagg of Austerlitz and Nancy Lent of Chatham; three grandchildren, Lola L. (Preston) Tinker-Stoll of Monterey, MA, William Lent Jr. of Brooklyn and Scott (Karen) Lent of Chatham; and three great-grandsons, Zachery and Dylan Tinker of Monterey, MA, and Christopher Lent of Somers; one brother, Robert (Nettie) Courtney; one sister-in-law, Maureen Stoll; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, William B. (Hap) Stoll, and her two brothers, Jack and Donald Courtney.

The family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home in Chatham, Friday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., when a prayer service will be celebrated by Rev. Gary Gelfenbien.

Nancy Martino, 91, loved family gatherings and cooking

GHENT—Nancy M. Martino, 91, of Greenport, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Whittier Nursing Home with her family by her side.

Born December 2, 1919 in Stuyvesant, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucinda (Garafalo) Melino.

Mrs. Martino was a homemaker and devoted to her family. She loved family gatherings and cooking for her family. She was employed at the Jamesway Department Store for more than 30 years.

Surviving are: her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Carmen and Lynette Martino of Ghent; her beloved grandsons, Carmen (Allison) Martino and Ricardo (Deborah) Martino, both of Ghent; her brother, Frank Melino of Ghent; seven great-grandchildren, Anthony, Taylor, Kathlyn, Brandon, Sophia, Moriah and Givanni; a loving niece, Catherine (Edward) Stiffler of Greenport; a special nephew, Anthony (Michelle) Stiffler of Long Island; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carmen L. Martino, seven brothers, Rocco, Angelo, Charlie, Ralph, James, Philip and Joseph Melino, and a sister, Mary Welch.

Funeral services are private.
