Regina Boehme, 63, loved family and Cape Cod

HUDSON—Regina (Joeks) Boehme, 63, of Ghent died Wednesday, July 20 at Columbia Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born December 4, 1947 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Hans and Elizabeth (Farrell) Joeks.

She was a graduate of St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer, class of 1964.  After graduation she worked for Rose & Kiernan Insurance in Albany until she began raising her family in 1975.

Once her children were of school age, she returned to work for Dr. John Tsou in Hudson and then Countryside Dental in Chatham. She retired in 2009.

She married Gerard Boehme on April 6, 1974. He predeceased her on November 8, 2007.

Mrs. Boehme is survived by her two daughters, Kelly (Jeffrey) Cox of Old Chatham and Kristy (Christopher) Frederick of Greenport; grandchildren, Emily, Molly and Gavin Frederick; two sisters, Barbara (Andrew) Britt of Scotia and Kathleen (Paul) Boehme of Chatham; one brother, William Joeks of Albany. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her favorite times were being with her family, especially her three grandchildren, who were truly the lights of her life. She also enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Her favorite place to visit was Cape Cod, where she recently had one last trip to with her family.

Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham, Sunday, July 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 25 at the Church of Saint James in Chatham at 1 p.m.  Interment will follow at the Saint James Cemetery, Ghent.

Ellen Otterbeck, 86, class Valedictorian

ALBANY—Ellen Corrine (Skogman) Otterbeck, 86, of East Greenbush, went to be with her savior when she passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Salem, ND, April 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Godfrey and Caroline (Thorsen) Skogman.

Valedictorian of her high school class, Mrs. Otterbeck went on to study at Luther College, earning a bachelor’s degree in English in just three years.

She is survived by: her children, William Jon and Bernice Marie (Rosenberg) Otterbeck of Kinderhook and Rebecca Jan (Otterbeck) and Dr. David Phelps of Hagaman; her brother, Dean Skogman, of Cambridge MN; seven grandchildren, Aaron Klehn, Jennifer Kline, Rachel Galka, Kristin Scace, Jamee Klehn, Sandra Hamm, Jonathan Otterbeck and 17 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, William L. Otterbeck

Private family services will be will be held at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
